Laung Prabang

Day 17
Got up early and got a new hotel closer to the Mai Khong and the center of town. Laung Prabang is a very rustic, relaxed and old city with alot of charm and culture. Met back up with everyone from the bus and we sat by the river and had lunch, I had a salad which was the first real greens ive had all trip. Nothing like mama's garden but the best salad in a while.

Everyone was a little exhausted from our crazy shuttle trip the day before so we went our own way and I went back to the room for a nap. Made a plan to meet on top of pussi hill for sunset but lacking sleep and having AC and a nice bed I dident make it.

I joined everyone at the bottom of the hill and we walked up some very steep and old stone steps to the middle of the mountain where there was a great view of the city and surrounding area's. The sun was already pretty low in the sky and there were about 3000 more steps to the top so we decided to just hang out there for sunset.

We all went out to Lao Lao Garden later that evening for a do it yourself BBQ dinner, it is like the Lao Beni Hana because they bring you hot coals that sit in the center of the table and place a Wok on top to cook your own food. It was a very good meal, we all at family style and ate everything they provided. When we started dinner there were about 10 people at our table but by the time dinner was done it had turned into 20 or more people around our table drinking and laughing. There was quite the variety of people this night. South African, German, English, Dutch, Scottish, Irish, Swiss and American. Everyone was was having a great time and loud with excitement.

The bars and restaurants in this town all close at 11:30 so we all crammed into tuk tuks to the bowling alley, ya random. One tuk tuk made for 6 had 18 people with people hanging off the back and sides. The bowling alley was actually very nice and is the only place open after 12pm so we saw most of the travelers we had met prior in other cities. My first bowl was a perfect strike which was amazing to everyone but I think to me the most. I tried to teach some of the others who had never bowled before but it is not easily learned. Eva even threw the ball backwards at everyone on one throw. I took the win after we took over a hour to play just one game. Round 2 people started dropping like fly so we headed back to the hotel calling it a night.
